Managing Director – Nortek

Nortek seeks to hire a Managing Director for our UK Headquarters in Southampton.

Areas of responsibility include:
Day-to-day management of a small technical sales and support team
• Support and monitor team performance.
• Motivate and build team competencies.
• Provide training and development opportunities and HR support.
• Legally comply with UK employment regulations.

Sales Management
• Determine sales targets and implement sales planning and resourcing.
• Ensure sales and support engineers have the tools and skills they need to be successful.
• Maintain responsibility for key customer accounts.
Business Development
• Seek out new business opportunities and develop strategies to attain them.
• Demonstrate commercial awareness of customer segments and core markets.
Finance
• Develop, implement and adhere to the organisation’s yearly budget.
• Understand and approve management accounting including P&L, balance sheet and cash flows.
• Confirm VAT and invoicing requirements where necessary and manage expenses.
Compliance Oversight

Ensure organisation complies with employment and business law, export control regulations, and government and corporate contractual obligations.
Approximately 25% travel is a requirement of this position.

Travel will primarily be within the UK and Ireland, and occasionally international, including to the parent company headquarters in Norway, and to international conferences or meetings.

Prior experience should include a track record of success in the following areas:
• 5+ years B2B sales management or leadership within the marine or maritime sector
• Technical sales role
• New customer prospecting and acquisition
• Responsibility for managing financial budgets
• Leadership and accountability
• Strong commercial awareness or business development experience
• Strategic planning
• Cultural awareness

Basic requirements:
• Valid UK driving licence and UK residency are essential. We will not accept applications from individuals who are
unable to work or live within the UK for this role.
• Whilst home working may be accommodated, this is not a remote position. Reporting to the main office in
Southampton UK, is a requirement of the job.
Additional favourable experience includes:
• Ability to understand and interpret technical information
• Marine technology or instrumentation background
• Prior experience selling into multi-level organisations
• Maths, physical science or engineering, with an ability toward finance or accounting
