An Introduction to eDNA Sampling

NatureMetrics' eDNA session aims to introduce people to both the concept of eDNA as a measurement tool for biodiversity assessment, but also to get hands on seeing how easy sample collection is!

This session will:
- Go through a brief presentation, introducing eDNA as a topic
- Introduce NatureMetrics' sampling protocols for sediments and waters
- Practical!
o Using water from the dockside and some of NatureMetrics' peristaltic pumps, the room will be split into a couple of groups with the aim of letting you process some sample as if you were collecting data from the field
o Post-session, NatureMetrics will be posting updates on the sample analysis to see which group has identified to the most biodiversity, most interesting creature and achieved the least contamination!
- Post practical discussion:
o Review of some case studies in context of the practical
o Review the potential to interact with eDNA data via web-based dashboards
o Q&A!

NatureMetrics are really looking forward to the session and hope people enjoy the chance to see just how easy it is to collect quality ecological data with eDNA.

Blue Insight – The Ocean Data Platform

Blue Insight is an open, modular digital platform that increases efficiency, frees resources and exploits potential in dealing with any ocean data. It offers a wide range of features encompassing data collection, integration, management, analysis, prediction, visualization and sharing. Built on certified core components and meeting high cyber security standards it operationalizes data handling for a large number of applications such as remote sensor control and operation (of e.g. EK echosounders), real-time in-situ data processing and survey data management. Monitoring data can be well contextualized for enhanced situational awareness and decision making support. Independent from the application, a Blue Insight solution remains scalable and adaptable to the user demands. Blue Insight is sensor-, platform- and data transmission pathway-agnostic and the user always retains full data ownership and control.

During the session we will discuss in detail the features Blue Insight offers and present various success stories. We would like to hear about your digital ocean challenges to see how Blue Insight might be of help.
