SAND Geophysics are seeking geophysicists with experience in shallow high-resolution geophysical data acquisition, processing and interpretation.
The ideal candidates will be experienced with Sidescan Sonar, Magnetometer and sub-bottom data, and confident in managing deadlines and deliverables. The role will include involvement in all aspects of project lifecycles from planning, design & tendering to results delivery.

Position Description:
Working in a small team, independently and directly with clients, the geophysicist will participate in all areas of geophysical surveying, with a focus on vessel mobilisation, data acquisition and in-field QC and data processing. Projects include a range of geophysical data (sidescan sonar, sub-bottom profiler, magnetometer, seismic) and range in size from 1-day 12-hour operations to multi-week 24-hour operations.
There will be involvement in project planning, management, final processing, reporting, research and development.
Areas of Responsibility:
– Setup and operation of geophysical survey equipment
– On-board (Online & Offline) QC of geophysical datasets
– Processing & interpretation of geophysical datasets
– Development and review of risk assessments and method statements for survey equipment and procedures
– Lead data management & reporting
– Promote safety and health of the workforce
– Assist with marketing and managing client relationships
– Assist training other staff members
Requirements:
– Experience with;
o Various sub-bottom, sidescan sonar and magnetometer systems
o Oasis montaj, SonarWiz, Kingdom Suite & DUG Insight
o Managing project deliverables and achieving delivery deadlines
– Appropriate level of industry experience and relevant qualifications
o Hold and maintain offshore medical and sea survival certificate
– UK citizen or right to work in UK
Working Arrangements:
– At SAND’s offices in Southampton, on worksites and remotely
– Typical work pattern Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00
– Flexible hours and hybrid working when not on worksites
