With the addition of Sleipner thrusters, VOYAGER AI now offers unified control of Inboard engines, Outboard engines, Sterndrives, Waterjets, and now Bow, Stern and Azimuth Thrusters.

The University of Southampton hosts one of the few research groups in the world that collects marine electromagnetic data in the deep ocean. The University operates a deep-towed electromagnetic transmitter (“DASI”) and a fleet of sensors that are towed behind the source to measure the electric field. This equipment is operated globally from research vessels, usually as part of international research collaborations. We are looking for an enthusiastic and versatile engineer to be based at the University of Southampton’s Waterfront Campus, who will maintain and develop this equipment. The engineer will work alongside a small team of engineers working with related equipment. You will be responsible for mobilising the equipment for use at sea, leading a small team of engineers and scientists operating it at sea and refurbishing it following use. This post offers global travel and working at sea, providing the key datasets required by scientists working at the forefront to better understand how our planet works. The post is fixed-term in the first instance, but with extension anticipated if further project funding is secured.

Fugro completes artificial reef installation for Woodside and Recfishwest

Fugro has successfully installed an artificial reef off the coast of Dampier, Western Australia, on behalf of Woodside Energy and Recfishwest, creating a new habitat to support local fish species and enhance recreational fishing opportunities for the community.
The project involved the deployment of 48 concrete reef modules which were installed on the seabed from Fugro’s multipurpose vessel, the Fugro Etive. The reef structure spans approximately 16,000 m² and is designed to promote marine biodiversity. Over time, the concrete modules will attract marine growth and a variety of fish species, creating a thriving and sustainable marine ecosystem.
This initiative is a result of a collaboration between Woodside and Recfishwest with the support of the WA Government, City of Karratha, Traditional Owners and local fishing clubs. It reflects a shared commitment to environmental and local community engagement.

ZerZeroUSV, OSHEN and MarineAI have secured UKDI support to develop and trial a new autonomous sensing capability for underwater operations

- The project will use ZeroUSV’s Oceanus12 to deploy a small cluster of Oshen C-Star uncrewed surface vessels over an area of sea
- The C-Stars will operate as a distributed passive acoustic network, providing assurance of sub-surface asset status without relying on direct communications.
- Sea trials will assess the network using XV Excalibur as a representative platform.
A first-of-its-kind project to develop a network of ocean robots to assure the successful operations of submersible fleet assets has launched this month, following a successful funding bid with UK Defence Innovation (UKDI), previously known as the Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA), between ZeroUSV, Oshen and MarineAI.
As underwater uncrewed assets (XLUUVs) are increasingly used and become part of the navy’s future fleet, a key future requirement is maintaining contact with and ensuring the status of underwater assets without relying on direct, high bandwith & detectable communications.
By deploying a constellation of Oshen’s robust C-Star vessels, the project creates a "passive acoustic network" capable of picking up covert signals from platforms like the XV Excalibur.
The solution channels level 4+ autonomous deployment, passive acoustic sensing and distributed communications into a cohesive system, to deliver a novel and scalable means to support and enhance submersible operations such as critical national infrastructure monitoring, defence operations and environmental monitoring.
During the trials, ZeroUSV’s Oceanus12 will autonomously transport and launch a constellation of Oshen 'C-Stars' over an area of sea, to form a network of acoustic sensing that can pick up covert signals from XV Excalibur. MarineAI’s involvement will ensure the C-Star launch system is integrated with the GuardianAI suite onboard the Oceanus12.
The aim is to demonstrate a practical method for confirming asset presence and progress during underwater missions, including intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, seabed mapping and the monitoring of subsea infrastructure.
The complexity of multi-platform integration and co-ordinated autonomy goes beyond incremental improvement, proposing a new operational concept to support underwater operations for the Royal Navy and allied forces.
UK and allied defence forces utilise advanced submersible and seabed assets, such as XV Excalibur, to perform numerous key tasks, including persistent intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) of national critical infrastructure sites such as key subsea cables or pipelines, future military date gathering (FMDG) campaigns to map key areas of seabed, as well as to perform anti-submarine warfare (ASW) missions.
Matthew Ratsey, cofounder and managing director at ZeroUSV, said: “Underwater operations depend on knowing where assets are and whether they’re operating as intended, but direct communications aren’t always desirable or possible.
“This project lets us explore a different approach, using Oceanus12 to place a small constellation of surface vessels that can listen passively and provide assurance without compromising the mission. We’re pleased to be working with Oshen and MarineAI under UKDI support to test the concept at sea and understand how it could strengthen future UK and allied operations.”

General Oceans Invests in Turbulence Solutions Specialist ReynKo
General Oceans Inc., a subsidiary of General Oceans AS, has entered into an investment agreement with ReynKo Inc., a US based turbulence solutions specialist. The SAFE (Simple Agreement for Future Equity) is a commitment to invest up to USD 4 million.
General Oceans AS is the parent company of multiple underwater technology brands including Oslo based Nortek, UK companies Tritech and RS Aqua, Australian Reach Robotics, and Klein Marine Systems and Strategic Robotic Systems (SRS) who both operate out of the US. General Oceans has a history of successful acquisitions and investments, with a recent acquisition being ocean technology distributor, RS Aqua in 2024.
ReynKo provides engineering solutions for modelling and control of turbulent fluid flows. Their software offers an algorithmic solution to one of the greatest mysteries in physics, the turbulence problem, and will use the investment to move to a commercial offering that can be utilised across multiple industries including the Marine Industry, Aviation and Formula 1.

Teledyne Marine Investment in UK Support for MoD ISS Agreements
Teledyne Marine is proud to announce the recent award of In Service Support agreements (ISS) for Slocum gliders and Gavia AUVs from the Royal Navy. The ISS agreements facilitate UK service, repair and operational support of Teledyne unmanned systems currently in use by the Royal Navy and ensure quicker maintenance turnaround times and high operational availability of those systems.
The ISS agreements provide enhanced maintenance coverage for Slocum gliders and APEX floats used by the Plymouth based METOC Information Warfare Group (MIWG), Gavia AUVs used by the Hydrographic Exploitation Group (HXG), and the Gavia systems with the Portsmouth based Mine Threat Exploitation Group (MTXG). To support these ISS agreements and the RN installed base, Teledyne Marine has invested in additional UK maintenance and field support staff located in Fareham and Plymouth and opened a repair and support facility in Fareham co-located with Raymarine. Furthermore, a Plymouth facility is being added with a planned opening in Q1 of 2026 to better support His Majesty’s Naval Base (HMNB) Devonport’s Teledyne unmanned systems users and for engagement with the National Centre for Marine Autonomy.
Proven Performance: Teledyne Marine is a leading provider of unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs) with two main production facilities located in North Falmouth, MA and Kopavogur, Iceland along with a network of international service centers. As of January 2026, Teledyne has delivered over 12,000 APEX floats, approximately 1,275 Slocum gliders (with over 600 to NATO naval users), and Gavia AUV systems have been purchased by 18 navies. Next Geosolutions signs a LOI with Saipem for the provision of “sat diving” services in the middle East Region

Next Geosolutions, through its subsidiary Rana Subsea, signs a LOI with Saipem for the provision of “sat diving” services in the middle East Region.
The agreement is worth approximately USD 150 million and has a planned duration of 36 months. In parallel, and in line with the LOI, NextGeo Solutions is expanding its fleet with the addition of the “ng supporter,” a new unit specialized in the execution of complex subsea operations. The value of the investment amounts to USD 112 million.
Next Geosolutions (“NextGeo” or the “Company”), one of the leading international players in marine geoscience and offshore construction support services for the energy sector and listed on Euronext Growth Milan market, in line with the growth strategy outlined since the listing and in light of recent M&A transactions, announces that through its subsidiary Rana Subsea S.p.A. (“Rana”), the Company has signed a Letter of Intent (“LOI”) with Saipem S.p.A. (“Saipem”) for the provision of “SAT diving” services in the Middle East region. The start of operations is scheduled for Q2 2026, with a continuous duration of 36 months and three additional six‑month extension options. The agreement has a total base value of approximately USD 150 million.
At the same time, Next Geosolutions announces the addition of a new offshore vessel to its fleet, through the acquisition of the “Siem Day”, IMO No. 9660102, from the Norwegian company Siem Day II AS (“Siem”), for a total purchase price of approximately USD 112 million. The vessel, classified as an Offshore Subsea Construction Vessel (OSCV) and to be renamed “NG Supporter”, will be deployed for the execution of the contract with Saipem as well as for other complex subsea operations, Construction and Installation Support activities, and Inspection, Maintenance & Repair (IMR) services, primarily within the Oil & Gas market. The investment for the vessel’s acquisition will be financed through a combination of equity and a bank financing, which is currently being defined.

Built in 2013, the “NG Supporter” is equipped with a Dynamic Positioning Class II (DP2) system, has an overall length of approximately 121 meters and a beam of 22 meters. With a deck area of 1,300 m², a 250-ton offshore crane with Active Heave Compensation (AHC) system, 7.2 x 7.2-meter Moonpool, a bow helideck and accommodation for 110 people on board, the “NG Supporter”, built in a Norwegian shipyard, represents a vessel of high quality standards, capable of delivering complex offshore services while ensuring safe and efficient operations.
The acquisition of the “NG Supporter” represents a highly strategic milestone for the Group. In addition to enhancing its operational capabilities, it enables the Group to strengthen its presence in a niche market characterized by growing demand and a limited availability of vessels with comparable technical features. This investment is part of the Group’s broader strategy to reinforce its fleet of specialized vessels and serves as a key enabler for participation in, and execution of, complex offshore projects.
The LOI with Saipem, in addition to establishing the dedicated deployment of the new vessel “NG Supporter”, also includes the use of a proprietary modular saturation diving system, a highly qualified technical team, and technologically advanced equipment, including options for Work Class Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) and a Hyperbaric Reception Facility (HRF).
The LOI enables NextGeo to secure a significant level of revenue visibility over the next 3–5 years, while also enhancing the predictability of future cash flows. The combination of highly specialized operational capabilities, the full operational flexibility of the vessel, and its multi‑year utilization further positions the Group within a market segment characterized by high barriers to entry, reinforcing its role as a provider of strategic offshore services in the technically complex Oil & Gas sector.
The signing of this LOI further strengthens the cooperation between the NextGeo Group and Saipem, continuing a well‑established industrial partnership with one of the leading global operators in the offshore sector.

Kongsberg Maritime formally on its way to becoming a stand-alone company
At an extraordinary general meeting of Kongsberg Gruppen on Thursday afternoon, the separation of Kongsberg Maritime was formally approved by the shareholders. The plan is to list the world-leading maritime company on the Oslo Stock Exchange on April 23.
Kongsberg Gruppen ASA, as we know it today, will continue as two companies. The business areas Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace and Kongsberg Discovery will form the new KONGSBERG, while the business area Kongsberg Maritime will be spun off as its own company, independent of the group.
“This was one of many milestones we will go through, and it was good to have this step confirmed. At Kongsberg Maritime, we are ready to take the next step and stand on our own feet. We are uniquely positioned to take part in the upcoming value creation in the global maritime sector. We have the people, the knowledge, and the innovation power needed to solve the technological challenges the maritime sector will face in the coming years,” says Lisa Edvardsen Haugan, incoming CEO of the new company.
Since the split was announced on October 30, 2025, Kongsberg Maritime has been working to strengthen the organization to prepare it as best as possible for a future as an independent company. A new management team is in place, the divisional structure has been changed, and critical functions have been strengthened.
“Going forward, we will continue to build on our already leading position and seize new business opportunities, including in the growing market for solutions with both civil and defence applications,” says Edvardsen Haugan.
She adds that the company's headquarters will remain in Norway.
“Kongsberg Maritime and the rest of the Norwegian maritime cluster have great strategic importance for the country, and we will work to strengthen that significance. At the same time, we will continue to expand our footprint and follow our customers wherever they are, since over 80% of our revenues come from the global market.”
On the ownership side, the Norwegian state has stated its intention to maintain its majority share of 50.004% of the shares in both the new KONGSBERG and Kongsberg Maritime.

Gabler has expanded its European in-service support capabilities
Gabler, a leading manufacturer of submarine technologies, has expanded its European in-service support capabilities through a trilateral framework agreement covering German, Italian and Portuguese naval fleets.The framework agreement was formally signed last week at the Liaison Office of Germany's Federal Office for Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support of the Bundeswehr (BAAINBw) in Lahnstein, near Koblenz.
It builds upon Gabler's existing German Navy contract with BAAINBw, signed in June 2025, and now extends support services to the Italian Navy's U212A-class submarines - expanding the partnership established in 2016 - and for the first time to the Portuguese Navy's 209PN-class submarines.
"This comprehensive contract extension represents a strategic milestone for Gabler in Europe," said Thorsten Klemann, Regional Sales & Contract Manager at Gabler, who led the contract negotiations. "Building on our nine-year partnership with the Italian Navy's U212A fleet, we're now extending that proven support model to include Portugal's 209PN submarines. Combined with our German Navy contract signed earlier this year, we're deepening our position as a trusted submarine support provider across multiple European NATO navies."
The ceremonial signing was carried out by Captain Stefano Russo, Head of Italian Navy Liaison Office, Commander Pedro Alexandre da Silva Melo, Head of Submarine Common In-Service Support Portuguese Office, and Thorsten Klemann, Regional Sales & Contract Manager at Gabler.
Covering both the modern U212A air-independent propulsion submarines and the proven 209PN diesel-electric class, the agreements address multiple operational submarine platforms within a coordinated support structure, demonstrating Gabler's commitment to reliable, long-term partnerships in the European naval sector.
