We are looking for a dynamic person who will have:
• A Degree or Masters in Science, Engineering

You main duties will be:
• Responsible for leading Metocean engineers/scientists to ensure safe and successful
deployment and delivery of our Marine Survey contracts.
• Lead our ongoing and planned Marine Surveys, including mobilisation, deployment, ongoing
maintenance and recovery of our Metocean Data Buoys and Seabed Frames.
• Manage the ongoing calibration and maintenance of our Metocean equipment pool,
including Data Buoy Platforms and Maintenance of Seabed Frames.
• Preparation of project documentation and field reports for our clients.
• Manage onsite relationships with Clients representatives and sub-contractors
• Work with the management team with regards to HSQE and continuous deployments.

Your skills/experience will include:
• Experience with managing and delivering Metocean surveys to clients in Europe
• Experience working in different sectors (Water, Coastal Engineering, Offshore Marine
Renewables)
• Knowledge of operating and troubleshooting Oceanographic equipment.
• Working to firm deadlines whilst being flexible to schedule changes.
• Strong organisational and IT skills, including MS Office/Python
• Ensure our survey activities adhere to the latest EU and industry standards.
• Full driver & powerboat license and suitable certifications for working on water.

Development. The ideal candidate should be a pro-active, self-motivated individual, a team
player/leader, capable of working independently. The ideal candidate should be looking to progress
their career developing embedded systems for use in the Marine Environment.

We are looking for a dynamic person who will have:
• A Degree or Masters in Computing or Engineering (Electronics)
• A minimum of 5 years’ industry experience in Embedded Development and/or Electronic
Engineering
• Project Management experience not essential but highly desirable.
• Able to manage a team of developers.

• Pro-active and flexible due to the nature of marine surveys.
• Experience with all stages of embedded development, from hardware and software

RESPONSIBILITIES

You will be part of the prototyping, production, and testing team and work closely with the engineering team. Your boating experience as well as your mechanical aptitude will be key to your success in this role. Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

 

  • Perform crewed and uncrewed vessel operation and maintenance.
  • Build mechanical assemblies from both detailed (production) drawings as well as back-of-the-envelope (prototype) drawings.

Utilising cutting edge technology OceanSENSE 4 is extremely capable. When mixing fluorescing dye into the carrier medium, the industry standard is 200,000 parts per billion – all OceanSENSE models detect dye to 6 parts per billion. The sensor feedback based topside software removes human judgement and inconsistencies from the detection operation. The OceanSENSE 4 unequivocally informs the operator when dye is present in the water column thus, depending on the application, locating the leak, confirming asset integrity or confirming the arrival of cement at the seafloor.

OceanSENSE was first released to the market in 2009, with operators rapidly positioning the system as the global industry standard for subsea dye detection. To date, OceanSENSE technology has achieved in excess of 50,000 offshore days on over 1000 subsea projects. Marine Advanced Robotics and Planck Aerosystems Announce Strategic Alliance; Combining Technologies for an Unmanned Aerial and Surface Robotic Team

Marine Advanced Robotics and Planck Aerosystems have established a strategic alliance to provide a multi-domain robotic team that includes an unmanned surface vessel (USV) equipped with a small unmanned aircraft system (sUAS) that operate together for advanced mission profiles.

 

The first system of its kind, the UAS-USV combination has broad applicability in the maritime sector. Applications include offshore infrastructure inspection (such as wind turbines and oil platforms), patrols of marine protected areas and exclusive economic zones (EEZs), and defense and security use cases. The sUAS can be operated remotely as a push-button capability, which includes autonomous launch and recovery, as well as automatic securing and recharging while not in flight. The USV can travel long distances unsupported, even in high sea states, and can host additional sensors above and below the water. The combined system is currently in trials for early customers. It will be offered as an enabling capability to all customers in the fourth quarter of 2021.

FET to deliver ROV life extension project to support international telecoms

Forum Energy Technologies, Inc. (FET) today announced that it has been awarded a contract to provide a life extension (Lext) upgrade on one of its Perry ST200 Trenchers. The next upgrade will be completed for a Western Hemisphere telecommunications equipment company The enhanced asset will support the installation and maintenance of subsea cables that are a vital component of an international communications network.

This project marks FET’s second life extension upgrade for an ST200 trencher and follows on from the successful sea trial of the first upgrade last year.

FET’s Lext service provides remotely operated vehicle (ROV) operators with a cost-effective solution to ageing subsea vehicles and technology obsolescence by increasing the asset’s life in some case more than a decade.

As part of the work scope, FET will completely remove all obsolete components and associated parts within the control system and replace them with the latest evolution in control system hardware and software. The upgrade benefits from over 60 years of ROV development at FET, and will provide increased reliability and improved support, while also minimizing downtime.

FET has produced more than 800 Perry and Sub-Atlantic ROV systems over the past six decades. All vehicle manufacturing is certified and compliant to ISO 9001 and 18001 to provide safety and reliability assurance.

The latest Lext upgrade is based on the newest developments in work-class ROV and trencher technology. These vehicles feature significantly enhanced performance across the full range of demanding intervention, survey and trenching tasks without compromising the outstanding reliability which the original Triton vehicles are known for.

Greensea Enters into Contract with Ocean Power Technologies

The next generation of OPT’s Maritime Domain Awareness System (M-DAS) will use the OPENSEA platform

Greensea Systems, creator of OPENSEA®, the universal open architecture software platform for the marine industry, recently contracted with Ocean Power Technologies (OPT) to provide development and engineering services. During the three-year contract, Greensea will support OPT to develop and launch the next generation of their PowerBuoy®-based Maritime Domain Awareness Solution (MDAS) on the OPENSEA platform and will work closely with OPT’s other software partner, Fathom5.

The Nippon Foundation-GEBCO Seabed 2030 Project and Kongsberg Maritime enter partnership as the race for a complete map of the world's seabed accelerates

The Nippon Foundation-GEBCO Seabed 2030 Project and Kongsberg Maritime have entered a Memorandum of Understanding in support of the global initiative to produce the complete map of the ocean floor. Under the terms of the MOU, the two parties will work together to advance understanding of ocean bathymetry. The effort complements the goals of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.

Seabed 2030 is a collaborative project between The Nippon Foundation and GEBCO to inspire the complete mapping of the world's ocean by 2030, and to compile all bathymetric data into the freely available GEBCO Ocean Map. GEBCO is a joint project of the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) and the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC), and is the only organisation with a mandate to map the entire ocean floor.
